Tomorrow is the big day!
Here are some updates on our upcoming race:
What To Wear – Please wear your team t-shirt. If you do have not a 2011 t-shirt, please wear either your last year’s t-shirt or your 2011 Komen t-shirt. The race bib goes on the front of your shirt.
Registering – It is not too late to register for the team. If you know anyone else who would like to join us, please send them this link: http://northtexas.info-komen.org/goto/planocure-saders2011. We currently have 25 members and there is always room for more! There is a discount running right now for $5 off. Enter the code BETTERLATE.
Chip Timing – Chip timing will be available for $5. If you would like to compete for an award, you must have a chip. If you preregistered for one, it should come in your packet. Runners competing for awards should enter the start corral by 7:45 AM. Timed runners must be registered by 7:45 AM on race morning.
Carpooling/Caravanning – Since Carpenter Park Recreation Center (our usual meeting place) is under construction, this year we will meet at the Tom Muehlenbeck Center parking lot. We will meet in the 3rd row of the parking lot (closest to Renner Middle School) between 6:30 – 6:45 AM on race day. The street address is 5801 W. Parker Road, Plano, TX, 75093. We will carpool/caravan to the Red Parking Garage on Tennyson Parkway. The line of traffic is always long! All roads in the area will close at 7:15 AM. Attached is a map of the course and parking. If we get separated or you can’t meet us for any reason, we will reconvene at the team photo area. There are flags from different countries there. On the flagpoles are letters. We will meet by the one with the P on it. We will meet there at 7:30 AM to get the picture taken. After that, you are on your own to run, walk, or wheel the race course!
Plano Cure-sader Info Sites – I have created many different spots where people can get Plano Cure-saders information. If anyone asks you for online information, you can refer them to any of these sites. There is a blog: http://planocure-saders.blogspot.com/. Team T-shirt Update & New Carpool Location

Team T-shirts – I ordered the t-shirts on Monday. I will be able to pick them up on Tuesday. There are a few options for how I can get them to you. I can interoffice mail them or you can pick them up at the Tom Muehlenbeck Center. Please let me know how you would like them delivered.

The More, The Merrier!
Hello! We need some more people to make our team whole. I have had interest from emails from people in other departments, but there hasn’t been much follow through. 50 Days To Go!
There are 50 days left until the 2011 Race for the Cure! I am so happy that we have 8 people registered for the team all ready. If you have any friends or family interested, please let them know we would like them to join our team as well.
For such a small team, we are doing amazing on Fundraising. Fundraising is optional. We have reached 52% of our $1,000 goal so far. Up to 75% of the net income from the Race stays right here in our community to fund vital breast cancer health education and breast cancer screening and treatment programs. And the remaining 25% supports the Komen for the Cure Award and Research Grants Programs, which funds groundbreaking breast cancer research.
Team t-shirts will be $7 again this year. Please interoffice mail me the money if you would like one. I am still working on a new design that will incorporate the Pink Plano P. The deadline for team t-shirts will be May 28th.
