See You Tomorrow!

Tomorrow is the big day!  Here are some reminders.

Carpool/Caravan – We will meet at Carpenter Park Recreation Center between 6:30 – 6:45 AM on race day. Please park behind the building in the west parking lot by the baseball fields. We will carpool/caravan to the Red Parking Garage on Tennyson Parkway. The line of traffic is always long! All roads in the area will close at 7:30 AM. Attached is a map of the course and parking. If we get separated or you can’t meet us for any reason, we will reconvene at the team photo area. There are flags from different countries there. On the flagpoles are letters. We will meet by the one with the P on it. We will meet there at 7:30 AM to get the picture taken. After that, you are on your own to run, walk, or wheel the race course!

What To Wear – Please wear your team t-shirt. If you do have not a 2010 t-shirt, please wear either your last year’s t-shirt or your 2010 Komen t-shirt. The race bib goes on the front of your shirt.

I Know Someone Who Still Wants On The Team – Tell them to sign up on race day! There will be a registration booth there. The catch is, I cannot get them a team t-shirt.
Chip Timing – Chip timing will be available for $5. If you would like to compete for an award, you must have a chip. If you preregistered for one, it should come in your packet. Runners competing for awards should enter the start corral by 7:45 AM. Timed runners must be registered by 7:45 AM on race morning.

Fundraising – Our fundraising goal is $2,000. Fundraising is optional, but encouraged. You can collect donations online by sending an email from the site. You can also send Thank You Cards. You can also get cash and check donations. If you need a paper form for fundraising, please let me know. There are prizes for those who raise $250 or more. Team T-shirts Are In!

Hello! Team t-shirts have been delivered to MCS. Please pick them up as soon as you can. Your Susan G. Komen packet should have been sent to you in the mail. I personally have not received mine yet. Please contact me if you have not received yours so I can see what I can do about that. Thanks!

8 Days Until The Main Event!

Hello! I am back from the funeral of my 80 year old grandma who was once a breast cancer survivor. I am happy to be honoring her at our Race For The Cure in 8 days. Sorry for the lack of communication this year. I switched jobs in March and haven’t been able to give our team the attention it deserves. Hopefully, I can start answering some of your questions.

Team T-shirts – Team shirts have been ordered. I will be picking them up on Wednesday. I will be interoffice mailing them this year. If you don’t work for the City of Plano anymore, please email me where and when we could meet on Wednesday, 6/9.

Team T-shirt Money Due 6/1

The countdown is on! There is only 8 more days to register on http://race.komennorthtexas.org/site/UserLogin. We are currently 19 members strong!
Your race packets have been mailed by the Susan G. Komen Foundation. Keep your eye on your mailbox for that.
Team T-shirt money is due now. Please interoffice mail me the money by 6/1/10. The cost is $7 each.

18 Days Left!!

There is only 18 days left to register on the Plano Cure-saders team! The registration website is http://race.komennorthtexas.org/site/UserLogin. Remember to search for the Plano Cure-saders. The registration fee is $30 this year. This year’s race is on Saturday, June 12th at 8 AM. It will be held at The Plano Campuses of HP and The Campus at Legacy, which is located on Legacy at Parkwood Drive, east of the North Dallas Tollway. This is the same location as last year, except EDS has moved its headquarters.

The Team t-shirt design is in the works. If anyone has any suggestions, they would be gladly appreciated. Team T-shirts are $7 each and you can interoffice mail the money to me at the Tom Muehlenbeck Center by 5/28/10.

April Insights

It’s been a while since I have emailed. I wanted to let you know that my information has changed. I am now going by my married name, Farris. I have moved rec centers to the Tom Muehlenbeck Center. My office number is 972-769-4410.

Early Bird Special

Can you believe it’s time to start thinking about the Race For The Cure already?! It seems like just yesterday all 44 of us were jogging along that 5K track.

This year’s race is on Saturday, June 12th at 8 AM. It will be held at The Plano Campuses of HP and The Campus at Legacy, which is located on Legacy at Parkwood Drive, east of the North Dallas Tollway. This is the same location as last year, except EDS has moved its headquarters. More team-specific details will come.

Susan G. Komen is having an Early Bird Special on race registration until February 15th. You will receive $5 off of your $30 registration fee. Make sure you enter the discount code earlybird. On the right side of the screen click on “Join an Existing Team.” Then enter the team name, Plano Cure-saders or team company, City of Plano.
