Race Day Reminders

Thanks to everyone who came to the Bling Party last night. Pics are now on the Facebook page and will soon be on the blog.

The big day is tomorrow! Here are some updates that you may have forgotten. See you soon!

Carpool/Caravan – We will meet at Carpenter Park Recreation Center between 6:30 – 6:45 AM on race day. Please park behind the building in the west parking lot by the baseball fields. We will carpool/caravan to the Red Parking Garage on Tennyson Parkway. The line of traffic is always long! All roads in the area will close at 7:30 AM. In your packets is a map of the course and parking. If we get separated or you can’t meet us for any reason, we will reconvene at the team photo area. We will meet there at 7:30 AM to get the picture taken. After that, you are on your own to run, walk, or stroll the race course!

What To Wear – Please wear your team t-shirt. We can show everyone our bling. It will be easier to see each other that way. If you do have not a 2009 t-shirt, please wear either your last year’s t-shirt or your 2009 Komen t-shirt. The race bib goes on the front of your shirt.

I Know Someone Who Still Wants On The Team – Tell them to sign up on race day! There will be a registration booth there. The catch is, I cannot get them a team t-shirt.

Chip Timing – Chip timing will be available for $5. If you would like to compete for an award, you must have a chip. If you preregistered for one, it should come in your packet. Runners competing for awards should enter the start corral by 7:45 AM. Timed runners must be registered by 7:45 AM on race morning.

Fundraising – Our fundraising goal is $2,000. Fundraising is optional, but encouraged. You can collect donations online by sending an email from the site. You can also send Thank You Cards. You can also get cash and check donations. If you need a paper form for fundraising, please let me know. There are prizes for those who raise $500 or more. For more information on the Friends For The Cure, please click here: http://www.komennorthtexas.org/race_pledge.html. The top fundraisers for the race get to have lunch with Olympian Nastia Liukin!

Packets & Carpool

Everyone should receive their race packets in the mail if you registered before May 31st. Please let me know if you have not received it by Thursday when you come to the T-shirt Bling Party from 7 – 9 PM at Carpenter Park Recreation Center. If you registered after Friday, 5/29, I will not be able to get you a team t-shirt. The order has already been made. I will pick up the order on Tuesday afternoon. So, if you had plans to pick up your team t-shirt at a time other than the Bling Party, you will not be able to pick them up until Thursday afternoon. I am off on Tuesday and Wednesday and I will try to come to Carpenter to sort the shirts, but I can’t guarantee it.

Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes! They changed the starting line again this year. So, they changed the parking garages too. Our carpool will park in the Red Parking Garage off of Tennyson this year. We will leave Carpenter Park Recreation Center at 6:45 AM and travel south on Coit to Spring Creek. We will turn right on Spring Creek to Parkwood. We will go right on Parkwood to Democracy Drive, then trun right on Partnership Drive to the Red Garage. Attached is a Parking Map. We will reconvene at the Team Photo are at 7:30 AM if anyone gets lost. All roads in the area closed at 7:30 AM!!

The basics…

T-shirt Blinging Party – You can bling out your team t-shirt on Thursday, 6/4 between 7 – 9 PM at Carpenter Park Recreation Center at 6701 Coit Road. We will have fabric paint and other materials available. Please bring anything special you would like to add to your shirt or donate to someone else. This is also a great time to get together with your teammates.

I Know Someone Who Still Wants On The Team – Tell them to sign up on Race Day! There will be a registration booth there. The catch is, I will not be able to provide them with a team t-shirt.
